About Hunter Canyon Trailhead

Length of Hike: 2 miles one-way; allow 4 hours’ round trip. Type of Hike: Canyon bottom. Only hikers are allowed on this trail -- no mountain bikes allowed. Area Attractions: Free-flowing stream during spring months with cottonwood trees and pools. A large arch is located on the right-hand side of the canyon about a half mile above the trailhead. Route Description: From the parking area at the mouth of the canyon, follow the hiker-established path about two miles up the canyon until the route gets blocked by brush.

How to Get There

From Main Street (US Highway 191) on the south side of Moab, turn west on Kane Creek Boulevard and drive west to a Y-junction with 500 West. Keep left on the paved road, which becomes Kane Springs Road. Follow the road west, then south along the Colorado River to a cattle guard. Continue south on the narrow dirt road to the signed Hunter Canyon Trailhead on the left.
