About The Sagamore

The Sagamore, built in 1883 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1991 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. In 1883, four Philadelphia millionaires who were summer residents on Lake George financed the first Sagamore. Its 16th-century English style and luxurious accommodations attracted a select international clientйle, and for decades the hotel was a popular social center for the wealthy residents of the famous West Shore mansions on Millionaires' Row. It was damaged by fires in 1893 and 1914, but in July 1930, the Sagamore III opened anew, and in 1954, the hotel hosted the Governors' Conference at which Thomas E. Dewey and Richard M. Nixon were just two of the many notable guests. Today, this grand, full-service Adirondack resort offers accommodations in the Historic Hotel and The Lodges. In 2010, The Sagamore completed a multi-million dollar renovation. For Price Match Guarantee and Special Offers please visit, please visit HistoricHotels.org.
