About General Grant National Memorial Visitor Center and Overlook Pavilion

Located west of the mausoleum across the southbound lane of Riverside Drive, the visitor center provides a bookstore/gift shop, information desk staffed by a park ranger, interpretive exhibits and a 22-minute park film about Ulysses S. Grant and the mausoleum. The overlook pavilion offers a view of the surrounding Riverside Park and the Hudson River. The structure was originally a comfort station built in 1910 and was renovated to become the visitor center in 2011.

How to Get There

From the front of the Mausoleum, walk west toward the Hudson River, and use the crosswalk on Riverside Drive. Make a right turn on the opposite side of the street until you see the columns of the Pavilion. Take the stairs down to the level below the overlook to find the main entrance to the visitor center. (An ADA accessible ramp is available to the north of the stairs). The MEN and WOMEN signs above the visitor center doors are relics of the original purpose of the building. Everyone is welcome.
