About Omni Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods
The Omni Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods, built in 1902 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1989 was designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark in 1978. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. In 1902, local industrialist Joseph Stickney built The Mount Washington Hotel, a white Spanish Renaissance hotel with a distinctive red roof and a grand colonnaded veranda. An immediate success among the privileged class, it was the most luxurious hotel of its day. More than 250 master craftsmen, skilled in masonry and woodworking, were brought over from Italy during the two-year construction. Today, this four-diamond resort has recently completed a $70 million renovation and offers opulent accommodations, award-winning dining, and countless activities such as a full-service spa, year-round canopy tour the state's largest ski area, and an 18-hole, Donald Ross-designed golf course, all amid breathtaking natural scenery.
