The Idaho City RD hosts an area 18 miles north of Idaho City off Highway 21 that cross-country skiiers and snowshoers will enjoy. It has groomed beginner to intermediate trails and distances of up to 6 miles. Be aware that the parking area is shared with snowmobiles, so you may encounter snow machines as you gear up for our adventure. the trails can be a bit rugged with a few steep and challenging downhill sections.Park N' Ski permits are available through the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. Revenues from the sale of permits go toward trail improvement, plowing parking lots and grooming trails. The permits cost just $25 for a full season of fun and adventure, or a $7.50 permit is available for one to three days.
