About Clear Creek Trailhead

The Clear Creek trailhead is a small rustic facility located on the southern side of the Wallowa Mountains. It is popular for hikers and stock riders going to the Clear Creek Reservoir and other backcountry areas.Alert! Forest Service Road 030 only has a brown plastic road number signs but NOT a "Trailhead --->" directional sign from Forest Road 6610. The 030 road is a rough road suitable for high clearance vehicles. Passenger cars are not recommended. There are rocky sections and some areas of small streams and springs to cross.

How to Get There

From Halfway, Oregon travel north the Cornucopia Highway (Main Street) to the Fish Lake Road and take a right; on the Fish Lake Road go 3.3 miles to the Clear Creek Road and turn left; Following the turns travel about 2 miles on the Clear Creek Road to the National Forest boundary; The road becomes Forest Road 6610 at forest boundary; Continue on Forest Road 6610 for about 2.5 miles to Forest Road 030; Note: The turnoff to Forest Road 030 has a brown plastic road number sign but there is not a directional sign like "Trailhead --->"; Turn right on Forest Road 030 and go about 1.5 miles to the trailhead. (Advisory: Forest road 030 is rough and not suitable for passenger cars; recommend high clearance vehicles only)To get to Halfway from Baker City, Oregon travel north on Interstate 84 for about 1.5 miles; At exit 302 turn east on State Highway 86 and travel 54 miles to Halfway.
