About Molly's Rock Picnic Area

The Molly’s Rock Picnic Area, built on the site of an old homestead, is located near a massive granite boulder known locally as Molly’s Rock. The origin of this name is uncertain because there are several different accounts of its source. How to Get There

From Interstate 26 and Highway 121 (exit 72 off interstate) drive north 5.3 miles. Turn right onto Old Whitmire Hwy. (County Rd. 81) drive 0.4 miles to stop sign. Turn right onto Hwy. 176 and drive 1.4 miles to Molly’s Rock entrance road, FS Rd. 387. Turn left onto FS Rd. 387 and drive 0.4 miles to entrance gate at Molly’s Rock Picnic Area.From Whitmire Junction Hwy. 176 & Hwy. 72, drive south 7.3 miles on Hwy. 121/176 to where Hwy. 176 turns off of Hwy. 121. Turn left onto Hwy. 176 and drive 2.20 miles. Turn left onto FS Rd. 387 and drive 0.4 miles to entrance gate at Molly’s Rock Picnic Area.
