About West Bench Pueblo
Located within the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, West Bench Pueblo is the site of ancient dwellings used by the Ancestral Puebloans. The group occupied a large part of the Southwest, mainly within Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. These dwellings are thought to have been used around 1050-1150.Modern Native American people view prehistoric sites as sacred places. They are, after all, the homes of their ancestors. Historic sites also connect pioneer descendants with their own more recent history. When visiting, please be respectful of these cultural sites.
How to Get There
West Bench Pueblo is accessed from the House Rock Valley Road (BLM 1065). To get to House Rock Valley Road from Kanab, Utah, take Highway 89 east for 38 miles. From Page, AZ, take Highway 89 west for 36 miles. The south end of House Rock Valley Road intersects Highway 89A 13.5 miles east of Jacob Lake, ArizonaThe turn off for this site is on BLM 1100 which is about 8 miles north of Highway 89A or about 22 miles south of Highway 89. Head east on BLM 1100 for about ѕ of a mile and the parking lot will be on your left.
