About West Valley Art Museum

The Museum is the primary art institution in the West Valley. It had its origin as a satellite of the Phoenix Art Museum and in 1980 formed the non-profit Sun City Art Museum (West Valley Art Museum) and began construction of the present 18,000 square foot building in 1984. Land, recently purchased adjacent to the Museum, will allow for future additions to include additional gallery space classrooms, collection and prop storage and administrative offices. The past 20 years have shown that the West Valley Art Museum has been dedicated to creating an art institution unique in the region. The Museum's extensive collection of ethnic dress from more than 60 countries, the paintings of Henry Varnum Poor and prints and drawings of George Resler form the nucleus of the collection comprising in excess of 2,800 works of art.
